It was a rare treat at the Esplanade Waterfront the weekend - a blue showcase that spanned over three days featuring many of our esteemed local blue bands. I caught up with some of the bands, took some photos as well as videos of them, having gained their permission to do so of course. Mean Jeanne and the Blues Machine got the event off to a fine start. Like a well-oiled machine (pun not intended), the band dished out the blues (with a setlist somewhat different from the ones I've heard over at Crazy Elephant). I believe there was not one in the audience that was not bowled over by Jeanne's searing vocals.
Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me on that day and was also unable to do an interview with them due to circumstances. But I'm going to make good on my word that I owe you guys a proper interview with Jeanne French herself and the rest of the band. Do make do with the videos for now yeah?
A place where you'll be able to find updates, information, videos, photos, writeups and interviews with Singaporean musicians and Singapore's music events. Be it indie, pop, acoustic, top40s, jazz, blues, fusion, SO LONG ITS LOCAL!

Getting things going
Hi I'm an independent non-profit writer/musician/photographer/video enthusiast interested in helping cover Singapore live local acts as well as their performances. All credits and rights are reserved to the bands and the premises. Reproduced with their permission only.
Who are you exactly?
Hi, I'm Jimmy Lim, 25 this year and residing in Singapore.
What do you do?
I'm a year 2 media student at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Science.
Why are you starting this blog?
I am a musician, a fan of our local live music. I also enjoy capturing the best moments of our local acts as well as taking pictures and interviews from our local musicians. This blog serves as a platform to hopefully attract and alert more people to our local live scene, and ultimately come watch and support our local acts themselves.
What do you hope to get out of this?
Just so you know I'm not making any money out of it. Its a side-interest of mine that I'm starting to take seriously.
Aren't there sites dedicated for this purpose?
From what I have come across, there perhaps are a few un-updated sites but nothing really too dedicated towards the same cause. There is however another avid contributor on Youtube as well - blueprintstudios. Do check him out as well.
Further plans down the road?
Hopefully in time to come, I hope people would appreciate the effort. I also hope to find sponsors and more support from our local community in better helping me do this job. If possible, it'll be great if I could act as a liasion/bridge between bands and organisations to organise events/festivals to generate buzz and get more coverage for our local music scene.
